We made it 1 week!

It's been 1 week since Elsie was born.

Needless to say, I've been busy, and I have no idea when I'll get back to beading.

She's a good baby. Sleeps good, eats good, poops good! She's good!

Introducing: Elsie Ann

Justin and I had our baby on Thursday July 7th. Elsie Ann was born at 8:14am after my water broke on Wednesday night at 5:15.

She weighed 8lbs 7oz and was 21 inches. So far life at home is going wonderfully. (Knock on wood) My mom has been here for the last two nights, and has been a great help.

Better Not Call

Happy 4th of July!

No going to fireworks tonight! It's really humid here in Minnesota, and I'm already extremely puffy and swollen. At my 39 week appointment, the doctor said I have about a pound of water in each of my legs! It hurts to walk and move my toes, as they look like little sausages. So, I'm working on necklaces and doing some cleaning before the baby!

Pinkish Dip

Spent Friday night going through my beads.

It's like Christmas all over again when I find something I forgot I had!

Spotted Sandpiper

I'm a big fan of getting my beads and pendants at Beadniks in the Mall of America. Justin and I live 10 minutes from the MOA, and I treat it as my go-to mall. It's not something special to me, like it was when I was little. I think before I moved to Minnesota I had been to the MOA maybe 3 times. Now I'm there at least once a week. I think it's great frustrating when people stop and disrupt mall "traffic" to get a picture of the American Girl Store or even the Build a Bear Workshop.

The pieces of this necklace comes from Beadniks, the pendant and bead caps are actually a local Minnesota artist. I wrote his name down on the receipt, but do you think I could find that piece of paper anywhere?!?!

The Edge of Glory

All the beads on this necklace are recycled from other necklaces that were given to me to "do whatever with."

I played with it for awhile, and thought why not just string the beads?
I'm happy with how it turned out.

I had my 37 week appointment today, baby is good, I'm uncomfortable, but all in all, things are good.

I can't wait to be done!

Honey Bee

School is out, so hopefully there will be some more time to make necklaces and POST them! Well, at least until the baby comes! 1 more month til the little one is here!

Somewhere With You

It's beautiful outside - time for a flowery necklace.

This necklace just makes me happy that spring is here - at least for today. The  rest of the week is supposed to be cool and rainy, and Friday's forecast is a wintry mix!

Hopefully KARE 11's weather team is wrong.

Have I mentioned how good it feels to be back?!?!

I'm Gone, I'm Going

Birds scare me in real life.
But when it comes to pendants, I just can't stay away!

Til The World Ends

I made this necklace for my niece Caitlyn - I plan on giving it to her over Easter.

When I saw Caitlyn at my baby shower, she was wearing the other necklace I made for her. I figured it's time to get her a new one!

Missing for 4 months - New necklace: Gasoline

Sorry that I've been MIA for the last 4 months. I

t's been crazy to say the least.

I found out November 1st that Justin and I are expecting a baby the beginning of July.
That surprising news put necklace making on hold for a little bit!

After not making necklaces on a regular basis, I just didn't feel in the mood to pick it up again. (I'm sure people go through these stages, right?)
I'd look at my containers full of beads and materials and didn't feel motivated to do anything with them. So there they sat...

It was maybe two weeks ago that I pulled things out again and started to create. It felt good to be "working" again. Maybe the break was a good for me...

It was nice to hear from some of my followers wondering where I was. Thank you!

Oh yeah, we're having a girl!

Merry Christmas - Necklace making with Caitlyn

My neice Caitlyn LOVES making necklaces with me.

She is a great little helper, and has pretty expensive good taste when it comes to picking out pieces of jewelry.

She made this necklace for her mom's birthday. She did it all by herself!

Then, Caitlyn needed a necklace for herself!

She just needed this peace sign, and did a pretty good job at putting it together.

Last weekend, my family celebrated Christmas (it's an off-year, everyone is with their in-laws on actual Christmas this year)

So Justin and I got Caitlyn a huge box of beads and jewelry supplies from Toys R Us. I told her she HAS to make me a necklace! You should have seen the smile on her face!

Here is a picture of my family

Candy Cane Pain

This necklace is for my nephew Connor's Kindergarten teacher.

I think it's sweet that when you are in elementary school, you get your teacher a present, and in return they usually get you something as well. Kids in elementary school get a "Holiday Party" and get to spend their last afternoon before break eating cookies and exchanging gifts. (At least that's how it was when I was little)

I still remember receiving a Santa face mug from my 2nd grade teacher, Mrs. Bauman. I still have the mug. (Little fact, Robert Goren on Law and Order Criminal Intent has the same mug on his desk)
I don't know what I got her... probably an ornament!

This is possible, because in elementary school, a teacher sees 20-25 kids a day, and that's it. They spend all day with their teacher, they spend all year with their teacher. Not in High School, I see 150+ kids a day, for 44 minutes.

Now that I teach 8th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders, I don't get a chance to celebrate Christmas the last day before break. Sure, I give my students a candy cane - but I'm also the one picking up the wrappers left all over the room, and say to them as I hand out the treat, "Why thank you Ms. Bodenburg for being so nice and giving me a candy cane." That usually gets a grumble out of them, "Oh yeah, thanks." My favorite is, "This is all we get? Don't you have anything else?"

Anyway, only one week left til Christmas Winter Break. 11 days off? I'll take it!

Live and Let Live

This necklace is a custom order.

It is a Christmas gift!

I'm Still Here...

Yes, it's true. I am still alive.
Alive and well... maybe not so much.

It was a great Thanksgiving holiday at my parent's house in Wisconsin. My sister Kinsey and I even braved the freezing Wisconsin weather to hit up Target's Black Friday sale. (We got my parents a new 40 inch Westinghouse TV)

However, the reason I've been missing in blogging is because I got sick the Sunday after Thanksgiving. It wasn't just me either. I think out of the 19 people home for the holiday, only 4 didn't get the flu-like grossness.

I ended up missing 2 days of school - went back to papers and grades due by Friday.

So, I spent this last weekend doing absolutely nothing but catching up on Tyne time. I watched some Christmas movies, baked some cookies, and went to bed super early every night!

There have been no necklaces made recently, but I promise I'll get back to it soon.

One In A Million

This necklace is for my niece Caitlyn. A month or so ago, Caitlyn was going through my pictures of necklaces, and seemed to be drawn to the ones with "diamonds" and "gemstones."

This doesn't surprise me, as when we went to Disney World a few years back, she wanted to buy a HUGE rock that looked like a diamond.
My sister Kyrstin is Caitlyn's Godmother, and is going to give this to her for Christmas.

I chose these "gems" because they are definitely Caitlyn's style. Along with the girly colors - she'll love this!

Jewelry Swap Reveal

Lori Anderson over at Pretty Things held a jewelry swap.

The idea was to swap a piece of jewelry that hasn't sold, and give it a new look.

I thought this idea was brilliant, and just had to be part of it.

This is what I sent to Marianna Boylan. I'm excited to see what she did with it.

This is the piece I received from Marianna

And now for the reveal...

Please check out the other participants in the Jewelry Swap.

The official reveal date is Monday, November 15th, so if they aren't up yet, keep checking back!

Snow Crystals

Here in Minnesota (Minneapolis) we've been in a Winter Storm Warning for 24 hours or so.

I couldn't be happier! I love this time of year.

It rained all day yesterday, and today they anticipate up to 10 inches of snow!

I woke up this morning to probably 2 inches, and already feel the need to put up the Christmas tree and start playing Christmas music. I won't though!

One of the radio stations is already playing non-stop Christmas music! Loves it!

Here are some pictures I snapped from our deck!

Felt it was perfect to take this picture outside in the snow

The Best Halloween Jewelry EVER!

Totally kidding!

But, I did have fun putting them together to go with our costumes.

Justin and I went to a Halloween costume party Saturday night and had a lot of fun. There were so many fun costumes. Billy Mays, Marilyn Monroe, Dwight from The Office, Indiana Jones, Luigi, a hunter, Glinda, a runner, and so many others.

I do have to say that the Billy Mays costume was pretty good. This guy had the full beard and a bottle of OxiClean.

Justin dressed up as a Jagermeister Wizard and I dressed up as a bumble bee. Saturday afternoon Justin and I decided his costume needed something more. So he ran to the liquor store, bought 3 small bottles of Jagermeister, and dumped them into the larger bottle we already had while I began pulling beads from my collection that were MANLY and went with the bottles.

He then punctured a hole in the empty bottles cap, and I attached a headpin through each one to dangle from my strand. I found a huge clasp in my collection of beads, and used that to hook the necklace together.

This necklace is heavy. I was so worried all night that it was just going to break and we'd have beads and glass all over the place. Luckily, it's still in tact!

It was fun making a Jagermeister necklace for Justin's costume

My earrings to go with the bee costume.
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Pores of The Ocean

Pores of The Ocean is a gift for my friend Stephanie.

I've blogged about her before, and decided to make her a necklace for her 25th birthday which is November 3rd.
