Pale Horses

I've had this focal piece for a long time and never knew how I wanted to use it.

It's made out of leather, and just fell in love with it when I first saw it.

I'd use it when starting with an idea, but would always "throw" it back in my bin of pendants.

This time I'm actually satisfied with how it looks.

Weaving The Web

This is a custom-order for Laura. She plans on gifting it to her sister for Christmas.

The pendant, just like the one used in Zig Zag Stop was purchased at The Bead Monkey in Minneapolis. I love the look of it - and it's just a hard plastic, so I got two! I might go back and get more. They had different shapes and colors.

5K

I spent my Saturday at my brother's house. Him and his wife were having a family/friend get together. Food, movie on the lawn, and just a chance to get together.

My younger sister Kinsey will turn 23 on September 5th, so I gave her her birthday card and gift today. The card I got her was about how one sister cut the other's bangs, and they were crooked. (I wish I wrote down what the card actually said, it was perfect) I bought the card in March, while looking for a birthday card for my older sister when I came across this one. I saved it until today.

See, there is a story behind this. In March of 2008, I wanted bangs. My mom refused to cut them as if I didn't like how it looked, she didn't want to be blamed. Kinsey on the other hand took the opportunity and we went to the bathroom for her to cut away. And boy did she cut away. Kinsey kept cutting and cutting that she cut me side-burns! Yes, side-burns.

From the front it didn't look to bad; but if I tucked my hair, it was another story.

See, not bad!

Those suckers didn't grow out until maybe December. I was in a wedding that June, and the hairstylist wanted to know what happened to my hair. Embarrassing!

Lesson learned. Never let Kinsey cut my bangs.

Anyway, onto the necklace.

The number 5 is significant because:

1) Kinsey's birthday is September 5th
2) She is the 5th child in our family

She loved it! She wore it the rest of the day, and received a lot of compliments.

Happy early Birthday Kinsey!

P.S. If you are looking for a fun blog to read, check her out. She has a degree in writing, and her blog definitely shows that off with a sense of humor!

Zig Zag Stop

Let me share with you my Friday night that I spent alone because Justin went home to visit his mom, grandma, and great Uncle George for the night!

I'll admit it, I've been talking to myself almost all night!

1) Had Justin order me Jimmy Johns before he left because I hate placing orders on the phone.

2) Ate my Beach Club (no mayo, cut in half) while watching Have You Heard About The Morgans? on Netflix via the X-Box 360. Not that bad of a movie...

3) Made this necklace once done with the sandwich and wiped away the crumbs.

4) Organized all the pictures of my necklaces for a photo-book with names, etc... while watching some Dateline special. I was hooked on the mystery placed before me.

5) Placed the order for my pictures around 11:00pm - hopefully I can pick them up at Target tomorrow! I'm ready to get this thing finished.

6) Now I'm going to bed - well, maybe read The Thorn Birds. If you haven't read it, I recommend it. My mom was right. I can't put it down.

Good night all! Have a wonderful weekend!

I Look So Good

I betcha my title got your attention didn't it!??!

No, it's not me.

It's just another necklace.

Tutti Frutti

Ah!!!! Love this necklace.
(I'm beginning to sound like my sister Kyrstin in all of her comments she leaves on here.)

Seriously, couldn't be happier with how this turned out.

I have 10 of these gold flowers, all different colors, different sizes. I wasn't really sure what to do with them when I first grabbed them, but now I am so glad I bought them as this necklace is AMAZING! I can't wait to use the other flowers!

Is it a little self-absorbed that I love how this looks?

I'm not a gold wearer, but I'd definitely wear this necklace now that it's done. I might need to have Justin take me out so I can wear this new necklace!

Stomp Them Grapes

These clear venetian style beads have alternating white and purple stripes. I loved them as soon as I saw them on Goodybeads, but didn't realize they were so big! Anyway, love how this turned out.

It's noisy here today. They are re-roofing the apartment complex, and I woke up to banging and hammering and lots of shingles on the porch! The sad thing is, it's so beautiful out, and I can't open the windows or patio door because of the noise! Blah!

Loved making this necklace.

Rolls So Deep

Here is another necklace that I made for Liz's IVF treatment silent auction.

The first one was Golden Delicious, and now here's Rolls So Deep.

I love the color of green on the pendant.  Well, I just LOVE this pendant! I bought it back in April, and have been holding onto it, waiting for the perfect time.

It was hard to find the "right" beads to go with it, but am so pleased with how it turned out. (After many different layouts)

Pictures from Andrea's Wedding

Andrea and Jeremy got married on Saturday. It was a beautiful day all around. The best part for me was seeing my necklaces worn by people I didn't know! It's one thing having my family and friends wearing the necklaces I made, but to see people I don't know, and will never see again wearing TyneBoden Necklaces, was such a compliment. Andrea used the necklaces as gifts for all those involved in the wedding.

Andrea came up to me at the dance and told me how many compliments she recieved on her necklace. She pointed them all to me! I even had a few women come up to me and tell me how good of a job I did. It was such a great feeling! I loved it!

Even one bridesmaid who is getting married in September said she's sad she already bought all her jewelry, otherwise she'd have me make hers. Oh well...

With Kinsey and Andrea

Backstabber

I re-did my "Ocean Breathes Salty" necklace.

Everytime I'd look at it, I had no desire to wear it and would crinkle up my nose in disgust!

I tore it apart and started fresh with most of the same materials.
What do you think? Smart choice?

The first time around

My new and "improved" version... with a new name!

The Delicate Place

I got this rock (focal point) from my grandma in a baggie full of jewelry that she didn't want anymore, and said I could re-vamp!

This was the original - as I received it.

Here's my product.

Hey Jealousy

I love the color of this necklace.

Andrea's wedding was on Saturday. I'll be posting pictures soon!

Golden Delicious

If you remember the post All I Ever Wanted I posted in June, I was asked to make a necklace for Liz while her and Jeremy go through IVF treatments.

I got approached again to make some necklaces for a private fundraiser in October for Liz and Jeremy's IVF procedure. There will be a silent auction and my necklaces will be up for bid along with other items donated.

You can follow Liz's journey through IVF on her blog.

Here is one of the necklaces that will be up for bid.

Thinking out Loud

I think it's my new favorite necklace!

The beads I ordered on Sunday night arrived Tuesday afternoon. I was soooooooo excited. I actually met the mailman to get my package!

I love ordering from Goody Beads because
1. they arrive fast
2. they always send a free gift
3. I get $5 Goody Beads bucks for my next purchase

I got an assorted gemstone bead grab bag - which I used for this necklace. I also got this textured metal teardrop pendant. For this necklace I punctured another hole on the side so it's not exactly a teardrop. (of course I ordered more)

Keep You

My great Aunt Aggie brought this home from Hawaii for my mom this winter, and my mom asked me to give it a new chain.

Before

After

Again I made my own chain, I don't think I'll go back to the bulk stuff for quite some time.

The original had a magnetic clasp, I tried to salvage it, but it didn't go so well. Instead, I used a toggle clasp.

Gentle Breeze of Autumn

Hot Dead Air of Summer

So I know this post seems mis-placed as it is 93 degrees in Minneapolis, the hottest day of the year. I just couldn't help myself in making this necklace.

Fall is my favorite season.
Back to school, warm days, cool evenings, falling leaves, my birthday, and Halloween!

I bought these beads a month or so ago at Sea of Beads in Lakeville, MN.
Loving the pumpkin.

Made my own chain again. Really enjoying this!

Back to my air conditioning!
Avoiding the outdoors as much as I can! Happy hot days of August!

Dirty Girl (Glasses chain)

My cousin Tammy recently purchased Valley of Clay from me and asked if I'd also make her a chain for her glasses. "Do you think you'd like to bead me an eyeglass chain (yes, I'm getting old). I need reading glasses at work and it would come in handy."

This is what I came up with since her glasses are tortoise shell. I had no clue really what I was doing - as in what length, or what tortoise shell looked like! (I googled it) I got it finished and tried it out on Justin's glasses. He looked pretty cute! Here's the final product.

I tried them on... not sure about this.

Thank you to everyone who participated in my August giveaway. I realize that this necklace doesn't really show off my ability, but make sure you keep checking back to see what else I have in store - remember if you like anything you see here, please send me an email or leave a comment and we can talk about how you can get it!

Friday September 3rd will be the next giveaway!

The August winner was Dawn.

I recently found Dawn's blog and just love what she has there. She does a lot of paper crafts: cards, scrapbook pages, etc. Plus, she's from Wisconsin! (Me too)

Dawn says: "I love reruns of Mash a whole lot but I am named after I love Lucy, I try to hide that most of the time.I love to laugh each time I watch one."

Babalu - August Giveaway

It's time for TyneBoden Necklaces' August Giveaway

Friday, August 6th is the birthday of Lucille Ball. She would have been 99 years old this year! Growing up the television show I Love Lucy was one of my favorites to watch on Nick at Nite. I've actually never met anyone who hasn't seen an episode of I Love Lucy, and not just love it. My little sister Kinsey would probably say it's her all time favorite television show.

This got my brain working. Since August 6th is her birthday, and EVERYONE loves Lucy, why not make a necklace that has that Lucy style?! "Lucy Ricardo" was known for her zany personality that got her into trouble, as well as her beautiful pearl necklace seen in many episodes.

I made the necklace Babalu, that is similar to the one Lucy wore on so many episodes.

I did however make mine a little more modern by adding 3 colors of "pearl" beads.

This necklace can be worn with anything from a dress to a white t-shirt and jeans!

Here is how to win this necklace...

1. Make sure you are a follower and leave a comment telling TyneBoden Necklaces what your favorite tv show is. (Make sure you leave an email address)

Ex: I'm a follower, and my favorite tv show that airs right now is The Big Bang Theory. However, Friends will always have a place in my heart! (tynebodennecklaces@gmail.com)

The winner will be chosen by random on August 7th at 11:59 cst and notified by email

Island Girl

My mom gave me this piece/focal point this past weekend.

She was going through her jewelry, and came across this necklace she got when she was a little girl.

It was on hanging on a plain gold chain, and asked me to revamp it so she could wear it again.

I made the entire chain - link by link. It took some time, but was well worth it. I'm excited for my mom to see it, and to actually give it to her to wear!

Caitlyn made a necklace and a weekend at Log Jam

I left Burnsville Wednesday night to visit my parents and family for the weekend. It was a nice little vacay away from the city.

Thursday, my mom, sister Kinsey, nephew Billy, and niece Caitlyn all went to Pepin, WI to do visit the "house" that Laura Ingalls Wilder was born in. Obviously it's not really the house, but a replica. I've been here a number of times growing up - love those books! My niece Caitlyn is starting to read them, so my mom decided we needed to drive an hour to see an empty, old house!

On Friday I pulled out my beads for Caitlyn to make a necklace. She pulled all that I had which was blue and layed out her design on my bead board.

She got really excited and said she'd never made a real necklace before.
(Meaning one with clasps)

Here's Caitlyn's final product. I then made her a pair of "dangly" earrings. Another first for her!

I think I may have a little helper someday when it comes to necklace making.

Friday night through Sunday I went to Log Jam with my sister Kyrstin. We worked main gate, and got to see the acts all weekend for free. Actually, I only spent $4 the entire weekend. It was the first year, so not too many big names, but still a great time.

Kyr and I got to meet Jake Owen on Friday night - then got real close for Montgomery Gentry. It was a lot of fun, and they put on a great show!

Saturday we worked again, but got to meet Josh Gracin, Jeffrey Steele (writer for a lot of artists), and Cowboy Troy.

I had to get back on Sunday, so missed out on Gretchen Wilson! Oh well! We had a great time, and can't wait til next year!

Back to necklace making for me!
